Charles Webster was born in the town of Moscow, in Summersett County, Maine. He was 21 when he enlisted at Morristown on May 20th and was subsequently mustered in to Company G at Fort Snelling, on May 23, 1861. He was 5' 8 1/2" tall, had light colored hair, blue eyes and dark brown hair. Charles fought at Bull Run. He was discharged for disability on Dec 1, 1862. The 1910 roster of the veterans of the First Minnesota notes his address then as being 10 Elm Street in Almond, Wisconsin. However, somewhat ironically, he died in a city with his same name. Charles Webster died in Webster, Wisconsin on December 12, 1915. Sources: Roster of the First Minnesota Infantry, 1910.
