Henry Sherman was one of many Germans to enlist in the First Minnesota. He joined Company E on May 20, 1861. He was 25 years old. He did his duty, stood in line and fought with his comrades. In doing so he was wounded at Gettysburg and Antietam. The wounds were severe enough that he had to be discharged for disability on October 26, 1863. After the war Henry eventually moved to Reading, Pennsylvania. He died there on Dec 2, 1896. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
