Robert C Simpson was born in Cumberland Co, England in about 1828. Prior to the war he had been living in Stillwater and working as a butcher. He was 33 when he enlisted. He was mustered into military service on November 21, 1861, and assigned to Company C on Feb 10, 1862. Simpson stood 5' 8 1/2" tall. He had a dark complexion, blue eyes and dark hair. He was killed at Antietam on September 17, 1862, less than one year after he entered the service.
